Daily Bible Reading from BibleStudyTools.com
June 13, 2012 - King James Version
21 And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught . 22 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.  23 And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out , 24 Saying , Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art , the Holy One of God.  25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying , Hold thy peace , and come out of him.  26 And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.  27 And they were all amazed , insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying , What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.  28 And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.  29 And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.  30 But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever , and anon they tell him of her.  31 And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up ; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.  32 And at even, when the sun did set , they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils . 33 And all the city was gathered together at the door.  34 And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak , because they knew him.  35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out , and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed . 36 And Simon and they that were with him followed after him.  37 And when they had found him, they said unto him , All men seek for thee.  38 And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth . 39 And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.  40 And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him , If thou wilt , thou canst make me clean . 41 And Jesus, moved with compassion , put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will ; be thou clean . 42 And as soon as he had spoken , immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed . 43 And he straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away ; 44 And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way , shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded , for a testimony unto them.  45 But he went out , and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.  2 And unto David were sons born in Hebron: and his firstborn was Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess;  3 And his second, Chileab, of Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite; and the third, Absalom the son of Maacah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur;  4 And the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith; and the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital;  5 And the sixth, Ithream, by Eglah David's wife. These were born to David in Hebron.  6 And it came to pass, while there was war between the house of Saul and the house of David, that Abner made himself strong for the house of Saul.  7 And Saul had a concubine, whose name was Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah: and Ishbosheth said to Abner, Wherefore hast thou gone in unto my father's concubine?  8 Then was Abner very wroth for the words of Ishbosheth, and said , Am I a dog's head, which against Judah do shew kindness this day unto the house of Saul thy father, to his brethren, and to his friends, and have not delivered thee into the hand of David, that thou chargest me to day with a fault concerning this woman?  9 So do God to Abner, and more also , except, as the LORD hath sworn to David, even so I do to him; 10 To translate the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beersheba.  11 And he could not answer Abner a word again, because he feared him. 12 And Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying , Whose is the land? saying also, Make thy league with me, and, behold, my hand shall be with thee, to bring about all Israel unto thee. 13 And he said , Well; I will make a league with thee: but one thing I require of thee, that is , Thou shalt not see my face, except thou first bring Michal Saul's daughter, when thou comest to see my face.  14 And David sent messengers to Ishbosheth Saul's son, saying , Deliver me my wife Michal, which I espoused to me for an hundred foreskins of the Philistines.  15 And Ishbosheth sent , and took her from her husband, even from Phaltiel the son of Laish . 16 And her husband went with her along weeping behind her to Bahurim. Then said Abner unto him, Go , return . And he returned . 17 And Abner had communication with the elders of Israel, saying , Ye sought for David in times past to be king over you: 18 Now then do it: for the LORD hath spoken of David, saying , By the hand of my servant David I will save my people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies . 19 And Abner also spake in the ears of Benjamin: and Abner went also to speak in the ears of David in Hebron all that seemed good to Israel, and that seemed good to the whole house of Benjamin.  20 So Abner came to David to Hebron, and twenty men with him. And David made Abner and the men that were with him a feast.  21 And Abner said unto David, I will arise and go , and will gather all Israel unto my lord the king, that they may make a league with thee, and that thou mayest reign over all that thine heart desireth . And David sent Abner away ; and he went in peace.  22 And, behold, the servants of David and Joab came from pursuing a troop, and brought in a great spoil with them: but Abner was not with David in Hebron; for he had sent him away , and he was gone in peace.  23 When Joab and all the host that was with him were come , they told Joab, saying , Abner the son of Ner came to the king, and he hath sent him away , and he is gone in peace.  24 Then Joab came to the king, and said , What hast thou done ? behold, Abner came unto thee; why is it that thou hast sent him away , and he is quite gone ? 25 Thou knowest Abner the son of Ner, that he came to deceive thee, and to know thy going out and thy coming in , and to know all that thou doest . 26 And when Joab was come out from David, he sent messengers after Abner, which brought him again from the well of Sirah: but David knew it not. 27 And when Abner was returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly, and smote him there under the fifth rib, that he died , for the blood of Asahel his brother.  28 And afterward when David heard it, he said , I and my kingdom are guiltless before the LORD for ever from the blood of Abner the son of Ner:  29 Let it rest on the head of Joab, and on all his father's house; and let there not fail from the house of Joab one that hath an issue , or that is a leper , or that leaneth on a staff, or that falleth on the sword, or that lacketh bread.  30 So Joab and Abishai his brother slew Abner, because he had slain their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.  31 And David said to Joab, and to all the people that were with him, Rend your clothes, and gird you with sackcloth, and mourn before Abner. And king David himself followed the bier.  32 And they buried Abner in Hebron: and the king lifted up his voice, and wept at the grave of Abner; and all the people wept . 33 And the king lamented over Abner, and said , Died Abner as a fool dieth?  34 Thy hands were not bound , nor thy feet put into fetters: as a man falleth before wicked men, so fellest thou. And all the people wept again over him. 35 And when all the people came to cause David to eat meat while it was yet day, David sware , saying , So do God to me, and more also , if I taste bread, or ought else, till the sun be down . 36 And all the people took notice of it, and it pleased them: as whatsoever the king did pleased all the people.  37 For all the people and all Israel understood that day that it was not of the king to slay Abner the son of Ner.  38 And the king said unto his servants, Know ye not that there is a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel?  39 And I am this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah be too hard for me: the LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.  1 And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled , and his sleep brake from him. 2 Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers , and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.  3 And the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream.  4 Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation.  5 The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.  6 But if ye shew the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore shew me the dream, and the interpretation thereof. 7 They answered again and said , Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation of it. 8 The king answered and said , I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me. 9 But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed : therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can shew me the interpretation thereof. 10 The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said , There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king's matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean.  11 And it is a rare thing that the king requireth , and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.  12 For this cause the king was angry and very furious , and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.  13 And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain ; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain . 14 Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king's guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon:  15 He answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.  16 Then Daniel went in , and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation.  17 Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:  18 That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.  19 Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.  20 Daniel answered and said , Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever : for wisdom and might are his: 21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:  22 He revealeth the deep and secret things : he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.  23 I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter.

Daily Bible Reading from BibleStudyTools.com
June 13, 2012 - New American Standard
21 They went into Capernaum ; and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the synagogue and began to teach. 22 They were amazed at His teaching ; for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. 23 Just then there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit ; and he cried out, 24 saying, "What business do we have with each other, Jesus of Nazareth ? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are-the Holy One of God !" 25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!" 26 Throwing him into convulsions, the unclean spirit cried out with a loud voice and came out of him. 27 They were all amazed, so that they debated among themselves, saying, "What is this ? A new teaching with authority ! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him." 28 Immediately the news about Him spread everywhere into all the surrounding district of Galilee.
Crowds Healed
29 And immediately after they came out of the synagogue, they came into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. 30 Now Simon's mother-in-law was lying sick with a fever ; and immediately they spoke to Jesus about her. 31 And He came to her and raised her up, taking her by the hand, and the fever left her, and she waited on them. 32 When evening came, after the sun had set, they began bringing to Him all who were ill and those who were demon-possessed. 33 And the whole city had gathered at the door. 34 And He healed many who were ill with various diseases, and cast out many demons ; and He was not permitting the demons to speak, because they knew who He was. 35 In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there. 36 Simon and his companions searched for Him; 37 they found Him, and said to Him, "Everyone is looking for You." 38 He said to them, "Let us go somewhere else to the towns nearby, so that I may preach there also ; for that is what I came for." 39 And He went into their synagogues throughout all Galilee, preaching and casting out the demons. 40 And a leper came to Jesus, beseeching Him and falling on his knees before Him, and saying, "If You are willing, You can make me clean." 41 Moved with compassion, Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, "I am willing ; be cleansed." 42 Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed. 43 And He sternly warned him and immediately sent him away, 44 and He said to him, "See that you say nothing to anyone ; but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, as a testimony to them." 45 But he went out and began to proclaim it freely and to spread the news around, to such an extent that Jesus could no longer publicly enter a city, but stayed out in unpopulated areas ; and they were coming to Him from everywhere. 2 Sons were born to David at Hebron : his firstborn was Amnon, by Ahinoam the Jezreelitess ; 3 and his second, Chileab, by Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite ; and the third, Absalom the son of Maacah, the daughter of Talmai, king of Geshur ; 4 and the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith ; and the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital ; 5 and the sixth, Ithream, by David's wife Eglah. These were born to David at Hebron.
Abner Joins David
6 It came about while there was war between the house of Saul and the house of David that Abner was making himself strong in the house of Saul. 7 Now Saul had a concubine whose name was Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah ; and Ish-bosheth said to Abner, "Why have you gone in to my father's concubine ?" 8 Then Abner was very angry over the words of Ish-bosheth and said, "Am I a dog's head that belongs to Judah ? Today I show kindness to the house of Saul your father, to his brothers and to his friends, and have not delivered you into the hands of David ; and yet today you charge me with a guilt concerning the woman. 9 "May God do so to Abner, and more also, if as the LORD has sworn to David, I do not accomplish this for him, 10 to transfer the kingdom from the house of Saul and to establish the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beersheba." 11 And he could no longer answer Abner a word, because he was afraid of him. 12 Then Abner sent messengers to David in his place, saying, "Whose is the land ? Make your covenant with me, and behold, my hand shall be with you to bring all Israel over to you." 13 He said, "Good ! I will make a covenant with you, but I demand one thing of you, namely, you shall not see my face unless you first bring Michal, Saul's daughter, when you come to see me." 14 So David sent messengers to Ish-bosheth, Saul's son, saying, "Give me my wife Michal, to whom I was betrothed for a hundred foreskins of the Philistines." 15 Ish-bosheth sent and took her from her husband, from Paltiel the son of Laish. 16 But her husband went with her, weeping as he went, and followed her as far as Bahurim. Then Abner said to him, "Go, return." So he returned. 17 Now Abner had consultation with the elders of Israel, saying, "In times past you were seeking for David to be king over you. 18 "Now then, do it! For the LORD has spoken of David, saying, 'By the hand of My servant David I will save My people Israel from the hand of the Philistines and from the hand of all their enemies.' " 19 Abner also spoke in the hearing of Benjamin ; and in addition Abner went to speak in the hearing of David in Hebron all that seemed good to Israel and to the whole house of Benjamin. 20 Then Abner and twenty men with him came to David at Hebron. And David made a feast for Abner and the men who were with him. 21 Abner said to David, "Let me arise and go and gather all Israel to my lord the king, that they may make a covenant with you, and that you may be king over all that your soul desires." So David sent Abner away, and he went in peace. 22 And behold, the servants of David and Joab came from a raid and brought much spoil with them; but Abner was not with David in Hebron, for he had sent him away, and he had gone in peace. 23 When Joab and all the army that was with him arrived, they told Joab, saying, "Abner the son of Ner came to the king, and he has sent him away, and he has gone in peace." 24 Then Joab came to the king and said, "What have you done ? Behold, Abner came to you; why then have you sent him away and he is already gone ? 25 "You know Abner the son of Ner, that he came to deceive you and to learn of your going out and coming in and to find out all that you are doing."
Joab Murders Abner
26 When Joab came out from David, he sent messengers after Abner, and they brought him back from the well of Sirah ; but David did not know it. 27 So when Abner returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside into the middle of the gate to speak with him privately, and there he struck him in the belly so that he died on account of the blood of Asahel his brother. 28 Afterward when David heard it, he said, "I and my kingdom are innocent before the LORD forever of the blood of Abner the son of Ner. 29 "May it fall on the head of Joab and on all his father's house ; and may there not fail from the house of Joab one who has a discharge, or who is a leper, or who takes hold of a distaff, or who falls by the sword, or who lacks bread." 30 So Joab and Abishai his brother killed Abner because he had put their brother Asahel to death in the battle at Gibeon.
David Mourns Abner
31 Then David said to Joab and to all the people who were with him, "Tear your clothes and gird on sackcloth and lament before Abner." And King David walked behind the bier. 32 Thus they buried Abner in Hebron ; and the king lifted up his voice and wept at the grave of Abner, and all the people wept. 33 The king chanted a lament for Abner and said, "Should Abner die as a fool dies ? 34 "Your hands were not bound, nor your feet put in fetters ; As one falls before the wicked , you have fallen." And all the people wept again over him. 35 Then all the people came to persuade David to eat bread while it was still day ; but David vowed, saying, "May God do so to me, and more also, if I taste bread or anything else before the sun goes down." 36 Now all the people took note of it, and it pleased them, just as everything the king did pleased all the people. 37 So all the people and all Israel understood that day that it had not been the will of the king to put Abner the son of Ner to death. 38 Then the king said to his servants, "Do you not know that a prince and a great man has fallen this day in Israel ? 39 "I am weak today, though anointed king ; and these men the sons of Zeruiah are too difficult for me. May the LORD repay the evildoer according to his evil."
The King's Forgotten Dream
1 Now in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams ; and his spirit was troubled and his sleep left him. 2 Then the king gave orders to call in the magicians, the conjurers, the sorcerers and the Chaldeans to tell the king his dreams. So they came in and stood before the king. 3 The king said to them, "I had a dream and my spirit is anxious to understand the dream." 4 Then the Chaldeans spoke to the king in Aramaic : "O king, live forever ! Tell the dream to your servants, and we will declare the interpretation." 5 The king replied to the Chaldeans, "The command from me is firm : if you do not make known to me the dream and its interpretation, you will be torn limb from limb and your houses will be made a rubbish heap. 6 "But if you declare the dream and its interpretation, you will receive from me gifts and a reward and great honor ; therefore declare to me the dream and its interpretation." 7 They answered a second time and said, "Let the king tell the dream to his servants, and we will declare the interpretation." 8 The king replied, "I know for certain that you are bargaining for time, inasmuch as you have seen that the command from me is firm, 9 that if you do not make the dream known to me, there is only one decree for you. For you have agreed together to speak lying and corrupt words before me until the situation is changed ; therefore tell me the dream, that I may know that you can declare to me its interpretation." 10 The Chaldeans answered the king and said, "There is not a man on earth who could declare the matter for the king, inasmuch as no great king or ruler has ever asked anything like this of any magician, conjurer or Chaldean. 11 "Moreover, the thing which the king demands is difficult, and there is no one else who could declare it to the king except gods, whose dwelling place is not with mortal flesh." 12 Because of this the king became indignant and very furious and gave orders to destroy all the wise men of Babylon. 13 So the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain ; and they looked for Daniel and his friends to kill them. 14 Then Daniel replied with discretion and discernment to Arioch, the captain of the king's bodyguard, who had gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon ; 15 he said to Arioch, the king's commander, "For what reason is the decree from the king so urgent ?" Then Arioch informed Daniel about the matter. 16 So Daniel went in and requested of the king that he would give him time, in order that he might declare the interpretation to the king. 17 Then Daniel went to his house and informed his friends, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, about the matter, 18 so that they might request compassion from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that Daniel and his friends would not be destroyed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.
The Secret Is Revealed to Daniel
19 Then the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven ; 20 Daniel said, "Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever, For wisdom and power belong to Him. 21 "It is He who changes the times and the epochs ; He removes kings and establishes kings ; He gives wisdom to wise men And knowledge to men of understanding. 22 "It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things ; He knows what is in the darkness, And the light dwells with Him. 23 "To You, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise, For You have given me wisdom and power ; Even now You have made known to me what we requested of You, For You have made known to us the king's matter."

Jesus wants us to be prepared for what is to come.

by Ben Lunis

Blessed Holy Lord Jesus, Jim Bakker, on his current television program, paints a dismal picture of what is to come. In this, he is promoting a solar generator system and buckets of dried foods for extended storage. Your comments, please, on all of this.

Ben, Jim is moving in the direction that I want him to. I want My people to be prepared
and what he is doing is part of that preparation. Do I want you to be involved in buying
his products? No. I will take care of you in other ways. But do not be hesitant to share
what he is doing with others. My people are so lethargic. They continue to do things
their own way, not heeding Me, the words of My prophets. As things worsen,
many will respond, but for others, they will pay the consequences of what befalls them.

Shallow end?

by Dale Cresap

Have you heard of someone who became fervent and devout in their faith and taking my word and commandments seriously described as going off the deep end? This is not meant as a compliment. What about those who are marginal in their faith, attending but not involved, content to remain on the perimeter of the work I am doing, and never fully engaging and living their beliefs? Do you hear of them described as going off the shallow end? Yet which is more prevalent? And which is the greater danger? It is more dangerous to dive in shallow water than deep water. Beware that you don’t go off the shallow end.

My wife’s knee replacement went great today. Thanks for your prayers.
